We put it in our front hallway with a mirror above it and it looks fantastic. We took the baskets out and stack up the adult shoes on the lower shelf (can fit 8 pair that way) and put the kids shoes on the upper shelf (stacked, the upper shelf holds 12 pair of toddler shoes).

We had been looking for a item like this for over a year and if not for the web sight we would still be looking. Never could find a item like this at the big box furniture/department stores or the private stores either. This is great for the end of a bed as the bead we have is about 3 inches taller than the bench.

I needed a hallway storage bench to fit in a very small space behind my front door that would match a mission-style coat rack I already owned. This is the only bench I have ever found with the right color, style & dimensions (less than 48" x 16"). It is solid wood except for the back panel, very sturdy, easy to assemble, a beautiful color, and looks exactly as pictured. The lower shelf has enough room for winter boots and the upper shelf is perfect for smaller shoes or hats/gloves. I am very pleased with it!
