Having read some of the reviews I had a good idea of what to expect. So there were no real surprises. But the one thing that stands out is the poor finish. There was visible areas that were filled with wood filler that did not take the stain like the wood does so it sticks out like a sore thumb right on the top in front where the TV does not cover it. So even though there is a lot to be desired I still went ahead with the purchase because of the cost. There is not much out there for this price even in an unfinished piece. All of the panel sections are just Masonite rather than plywood so that adds to the cheapness of the finish.
There was one hole I had to drill because it got missed in the construction process, but otherwise it went together well.

I read lots of reviews on this particular TV stand before I purchased, so I was mentally prepared for poor instructions and a high degree of difficulty. So, I was pleasantly surprised when it came together (after the 2nd attempt). One pre-mounted piece of wood was misaligned by about 1/2", so it threw off everything and made corners not align, dowels show, etc. I took everything apart, re-mounted the piece of wood in the correct location, and all went together perfectly. All in all, an excellent value if you are handy and don't mind putting in about an hour and a half of your time. It's hard to find reasonably-priced units made of REAL wood, so I think this is an exceptional value!! I don't usually write reviews, but after reading so many negatives, I thought I would put in my two-cents worth about this product.

Great for my needs. I used a little steel wool and furniture oil to the finished product and it looks like a $700 to $1000 piece of furniture!

The tv stand is sturdy holds a pretty heavy 32 inch television and the design is nice. I was disapointed that the color different from the color on the picture online.

We are using this TV stand to hold our cable box and DVD payer under our flat screen television that is mounted on the wall above it. The stand is compact enough for our small living room. The top came broken on one corner but we had already spray painted the stand to match our other living room furniture by the time we found the break, so a little glue, a clamp, some sandpaper, and paint and everything looks fine. I'd buy it again. [...]

This is a very practical, high quality t.v. stand at an extremely reasonable price. The finish is especially nice and blends with other walnut stained furniture very well.

I needed a low-cost but attractive and sturdy stand for a heavy (old) TV for a spare bedroom. This stand is attractive enough, and is a great price considering it is made of solid wood. I received the stand and the finish was HORRIBLE. Many imperfections and defects, such as wood filler (which stains a different color than real wood) and finish blemishes. Just about every piece (and all major piece) had defects. [...] The second unit was MUCH better. It still had some minor blemishes, but mostly in locations one normally doesn't see (inside drawers, back panel). The assembly was somewhat difficult and the end construction is a little wobbly. The wobble may be the result of my assembly difficulties, as I had to back-out some bolts and try assembling in a different order on some pieces. It seems stable enough, but I'm a bit concerned the wobble will get worse as time goes on with a ~50 lb TV on it. Also, the drawers aren't on rails or slots...so they don't slide in/out very smoothly. Overall, I would recommend this to someone in the market for a low-cost but attractive stand. In my application, it's perfect for a 2nd TV in a spare bedroom or den, and that's it's best use. This stand might not be the best as a 'family room center piece', but if that's what you're looking for you would probably be spending more than ~$150. I would say it looks more expensive than it is, but it's about worth what it costs.

[...] It probably took my husband an hour to put toghether? the knobs and screws were stripped so that one of them could not be used. I had planned to substitute them anyway, which I did and looks great. There was a long scratch on the bottom side of one of the panels, but since it's not visible, I wasn't concerned. The finish isn't perfect. I originally bought it for my formal living room and it would have fit right in with it, but it's smaller than I imagined it would be. Overall, the price, appearance, and value makes this purchase well worth it. As long as you don't expect perfection, but want something that looks good (like it was more than it was) and are value minded, I would highly recommend.
