Overall this unit looks nice, and was not terribly difficult to assemble (but the fact that I have assembled numerous IKEA-styled items may have helped). I believe the main "con" with this unit is that the shelves are not particularly sturdy. For example, one shelf is only half-filled with CD's and is already bending from the weight. (The shelves seem fairly okay for lighter items like typical DVD cases.)

Took quite a bit to setup because I was doing this with a fractured spine. Also because wanting to hang it on the wall was a project all in itself that tripled the time. But very easy to build just by lookin at the picture instructions provided. Took 2 people to do some of the setup.

I really like how this turned out. To me its well worth the price paid. Wish I had more wall to put another one to fill up.

Only "Con" is the single small beam across the middle of the back. Just by enlarging it a decent amount or adding 2 more of those size beams for the top and bottom of the back would make this much sturdier. As well as easier for people in earthquake country who like to attach stuff to walls to do so.

But nonetheless was able to easily hang it up on the wall after purchasing a sheet of wood to cover the entire back of the unit replacing that beam completely. The longest part was lay the wood down, put the rack on top and trace the rack, stand the rack up, trim the panel enough to where it didnt reach the side edges and permanently secure the panel to the back of the rack using all the lines drawn. Then bolted it to every stud it covered, 2-3 on each stud. Being sure the middle vertical support on the rack was lined up to one of the studs. Safe to say its on the wall for good now but still bought 3 big fancy black iron L brackets for the bottom to brace it even more and it looks sweet. Everyone that has seen it wants one.

Just be sure to take your time if you want to try something like this and are a novice working with wood. Its good quality but still particle board and if you rush it will break. Always drill first then fasten and many medium & small screws are better than a few big ones. I learned this trying to customize my new tv stand a few weeks ago.

One other thing for people like me whose dvd collection is half wierd sized collectors editions, boxed sets and such, this 6 shelf high rack became a 5 shelf high rack on one of the 3 columns for me. So keep that in mind when counting your space requirements.

I originally had a media stand that was taller and had more depth than this stand, and I could not get all my DVDs in it. I was a little worried when I first put this together because next to my old media stand it just looked so small. However, I was able to get in over 500 DVDs and still have room for more with just the one unit! I was truly amazed. I also got this in oak and it look great against my floors. I plan to buy another one and would recommend anyone who is looking for a great shelf to get this one.

The media tower fit perfectly along the wall in our theater room. While we had some communication issues with the seller, the product arrived relatively quickly. The box was somewhat heavy and required two people to move after it was delivered. Overall, we've been very pleased with our purchase.
