This bed is horrible. Do not buy it! I knew that it was cheap but I didn't know it was going to be this bad. The holes in the particle board didn't even line up on the platform pieces, so the molding along the edge wouldn't even fit. Now we're stuck with a bed where you can see the unpainted particle board. I could of made a better bed myself from my own particle board and some white paint. The pieces were also damaged. I will never buy from Cymax or another South Shore product.

This is difficult to review. We purchased a complete BR set from South Shore and are very well pleased with the appearance and quality of the rest of the furniture. This one had some problems. First of all, the boards that make up the platform have pre-drilled holes with which to attach them to the cross supports. Many of them were mis- drilled so they did not line up with the cross pieces. Upon inspection, they did not even line up with each other. It wasn't a huge problem, because once I realized what was happening, I simply lined up the boards at the top of the bed and used a straight edge to draw a line across the boards over the cross members and drilled new holes. This was very unusual because the rest of the South Shore furniture was near perfect. Of more importance were the finishing pieces that were provided for the edges of the bed. They are beautifully done and well finished. However, when installed, they fail to cover most of the rough edges of the particle board used for the platform top. It looks bad and is rough. We resolved this by buying white pre-finished 1" corner molding to cover it. The result looks fine. More important, the ends of the finishing pieces are all square cut and finished. The profile of them is raised on one side and gently curved down to the lower side. As a result, there is no way for the piece across the bottom of the bed to be installed to match the sides. In addition, for some reason, the bottom piece is about 6" too long and sticks out on the sides. Our son has a compound mitre saw and is sawing the three pieces so we can join them at both sides with a 45 degree joint. Overall, we are pleased with the bed, it's very comfortable and we would buy it again because it is part of the set. It is just so unlike the rest of the South Shore pieces we got. Another note - the bed is described as suitable for both full and queen size mattresses. Be aware of the fact that, at least in our case, if you use a full size mattress, you will probably want to paint the edges of the surface white because the mattress won't come all the way over to the trim.

I would recommend to a friend with the aforementioned caveats.

Very poor quality. Fell apart in less than a year. MDF tore apart and could not put the screws back in.

We bought this as a new bed for my fiance's daughter who lives with us part time. She loves it! It makes her room look more like a teenager's room and she likes how it sits low to the ground because it makes her room look bigger and it also prevents her from shoving things under her bed. I assembled it myself and I wouldn't call it easy to assemble but I wouldn't call it hard either, tricky would be a better word. The directions are easy enough, its just a matter of balancing the rails just right so you can screw them in upside down. The price was right too and it will last her for a long time.

Using with Sleep Number mattress. Bed went together easy and is surprisingly solid (I'm a large woman). Three things bother me tho...1) the platform is larger then standard mattress size so I have a constant bruise on my shin from hitting it - especially on corners, 2) the platform screws stick up a bit so I had to buy a thin pad to place over them so my mattress won't be ripped or worn and 3) the trim pieces are so hard I can't get them attached (screws break). I'm thinking of rounding the corners and putting the grey foam pipe insulation on the edges to protect my shins (I have a bed shirt to cover the ugly foam).

As a first time Cymax customer I did not know what to expect. The delivery was timely. My kids assembled the bed in a little over an hour. It looks great in our guest room and according to my daugher, sleeps very well.

I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
The box was very heavy when it arrived and ups left it on the wet ground in my driveway.
My sister helped to assemle. A bit confusing, but we figured it out.
I love this bed, it was exactly what I was looking for at the right price. Nothing fancy, but functional and clean looking.
