Sauder Woodworking Company

In 1934, Erie J Sauder began his woodworking venture in the barn behind his home. He began making things that the area farmers would need as well as church pews. Determined to use every piece of scrap leftover, he began to create occasional tables which eventually caught the eye of a traveling salesman. With his first order of 25,000, he took the advice of a friend and incorporated Sauder Woodworking Company. This allowed Sauder to mass-produce furniture.

By 1951, Sauder saw a need for a table that anyone could put together in their home. This resulted in the “knock-down” occasional table, the original RTA (ready-to-assemble) piece of home furniture. In the 1970s Sauder expanded the business into mobile homes and kitchen cabinets under the Herculex name. In 1978, they patented the laminated raised panel cabinet door to give cheaper furniture the look of wood. This started the imitation wood trend of the early 1980s. The company wasn’t done innovating yet. In 1993, Sauder designed and built a power-generating facility that would convert sawdust into energy. It was a marvel at its time and continued with the "waste nothing" philosophy that Erie J Sauder created the company under.

Sauder has continued to be an innovator in furniture design and facility efficiency. Through various acquisitions, Sauder has expanded into all aspects of the home and office—from office chairs and home office desks, to entertainment centers and bedroom sets.

Sauder Dressers

A finely crafted Sauder dresser is a wonderful place to start to redecorate your bedroom. You’ll love the classic style with rounded bun feet and shutter cabinet doors on a beachside cottage-inspired dresser design. The four dresser drawers combined with two cabinet doors adorning the dresser are the perfect complement to your breezy décor.

A transitional style Sauder dresser is perfect for a youth’s bedroom or as an anchor piece to combine your own mix of furniture styles. A contemporary six-drawer double dresser will make a wonderful conversation piece in your child’s bedroom.

A Sauder dresser is a simple yet masterful work art whether you choose a finish like antique white, Jamocha or Carolina oak. All Sauder dresser finishes are trendy and timeless.
