I purchased this to go into a bedroom because I had to move my life into one bedroom. I purchased the computer armoire that goes with this as well. It was bigger than I expected, but not in a bad way. It is extremely sturdy and holds all my files. The top fits a lamp; DVD player, satellite receiver, and a small flat panel TV (stacked); tissue box; small picture frame; wicker box for keys, etc.; and I have space left over.

The unit is very deep, so you can get a lot into the open shelves. I was able to fit all of my office supplies (and I had a lot because I had stock piled at sales).

As I stated in my other reviews, the color is more a beige than an off-white. It was not what I was expecting but it is attractive. Just be aware of this if you choose to buy products from other manufacturers that say off-white because they will not match.

Having 1 drawer and 1 shelf allows for varied use, in my case......1 drawer of file storage and a printer on the shelf. I have actually left the 2 "divider pieces" out so that I have a large shelf beneath the top. Assembly was good with only one (1) screw that stripped out on me. I did end up gluing the high - quality drawer extension screws into the holes so that I wouldn't ever have to worry about them becoming loose.I also used wood glue on some assemble, to assure strength. I did decide to add a piece of paneling (cut to size) to the back, as the cardboard provided was just too light-weight, in my opinion. * My only concern.....the Finish. It seems to be a rather delicate vinyl skin. Time will tell how it stands up to normal use. Not sure that painting it is a simple cure as vinyl does not allow paint to adhear without some prep (sanding). At this point I'll give it an "7.5".

We just recently purchased this file cabinet, and it is a great piece of furniture - very sturdy, well-built and useful. However, I just want to caution that even though the picture looks white, and it is described as antique white - NOTHING about this cabinet is white! It is birch wood color. There is no mistaking it whatsoever for white, not even an antique white color. I am disappointed by this because I bought it to match all my other truly antiqued white office furniture. We do like the piece, though, so we will attempt to paint it ourselves and hope it turns out okay!
