          Although a few pieces came in a little damaged, once we put the fireplace together and glued the damaged parts, we were delighted, it looks great. Very elegant and sophisticated fireplace. The flames look very realistic and the sound it makes is very relaxing. Great buy for the price.

            Having researched many electrical fireplaces to find the one that best conformed to my contemporary decor, I decided upon the Mt.Vernon. I only use it for the ambience of a real fireplace. The flame is fairly realistic, but the fact that the remote control can adjust the flame to different levels of brightness was a plus. So many of the more popular, lower priced electric fireplces do not have adjustable flame control. This flame will glow/flicker very well in a brightly lighted room -- something other well-known brands do not accomplish as their flame becomes washed out. Yes, it is a faux flame but still gives off some realism. Yes, it is hard to buy an electric fireplace online without actually seeing it work. This one suited me. The price is such a great value. The woodwork very well executed and finished.[...] I took my time putting it together. It was not complicated, and the instructions were clear. Was not satisfied with the bright, ivory color frame around the firebox opening, so I put a dull gray and white wash over it after lightly sanding it. That really improved the looks! Any color could be painted. This is a great additon to my living room and an eye-catcher!

              I like the very dark almost black walnut color. It goes very nicely with our living room tables and decor. It is just the right size and fit for our living room. Even though there are a couple seams that don't fit flush (not noticeable)and a couple of missed stain areas (also not noticeable)it looks elegant, very nice piece for the price. It was easy for my husband to put together. Love the coziness it brings to the room. [...]

              My fireplace is used for Heat/Decoration. I also have a Flat Screen hanging on the wall, well above the fireplace. The design is great, especially the dentil moulding, because it fits in with the rest of my decor. I have not had a chance to find out if there is anything negative about this beautiful fireplace.
