It's also high enough for under-bed storage and was pretty easy to assemble. There are a lot of screws so a screw gun is handy but not necessary. All in all, a good value for the product. Now for the negative - I had 4 head boards delivered before I got one in good shape. The first 3 were broken. Fortunately, [...] But, I was disappointed with the long delay between when I ordered it and when I actually received a decent one. And, now I have 3 broken headboards to get rid of. [...]

        The only problem I have with this platform bed is.

        It could use a few extra screws to securely fasten all of the slats down... Just a quick trip to the hardware store to pick up a few screws!

          Bed came about 2 weeks earlier than estimated. All pieces arrived in perfect condition. The finish on all pieces was flawless and even better looking than on the web. The bed assembled easily and well. I had no problem with holes matching up but offer this advice... leave the frame a bit loose before screwing in the slats, then tighten the frame. I was worried about the structural soundess, but the center frame piece bolted in well (the simple holes are for the legs, the metal reinforced holes are for the slats) and the bed is surprisingly sturdy. No squeaks, no movement.

          One piece of advice... the bolts that come with it are heavily dosed in grease. If you have light carpets, don't just dump them on the floor while you are assembling the bed as I did. Put them on a paper towl or an old cloth.

          Its a great looking and surprisingly sturdy bed. Changed the entire feel of the bedroom. Cant beat it at this price.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

            The appearence of this bed definately exceeded my expectations. It came packaged very well and all the pieces were perfect. The finish is beautiful. I was able to put the bed together by myself in less than one hour...with no instructions. I am using it with a 10" memory foam mattress only. The only downside to the assembly is that the vertical center support does not stay attached and it is definately necessary for support. My bed is on hardwood floors, so it tends to slide around a little and with the slightest shift, the vertical center support falls. This will be an easy fix though with a few extra screws. Overall, I am definately pleased.

            Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
