Lea Industries started in 1869 as David M. Lea Company making it one of the oldest furniture companies still in business today. They started off manufactured packing boxes in Richmond, VA. By the time it was acquired in 1969 by Sperry & Hutchinson Company, David M. Lea Company had grown its business to include low and mid-priced bedroom and dining room furniture. Lea Industries, now a division of La Z Boy Furniture, has set itself apart by focusing on designing furniture specifically for the youth market.
