For the price, this is an excellent buy. It's all wood and sturdy. My husband, who is very handy, was able to assemble it in 3 hours without any problems. During assembly, we noticed that two of the sides for the bottom drawer had split where they pre-drilled the holes. We were given the direct number from Cymax to call Homestyles. Homestyles promptly replaced the two sides of the drawer within 5 business days. We were very pleased with their replacement parts service -- very easy, and you didn't have to jump through hoops.

This island is the perfect size for our small kitchen -- I use it for food prep, extra storage and dining. (We did not add on the towel rack and paper towel holder on the sides since that would take too much space in our small kitchen so that worked out perfectly). The only suggestion I have is that instead of having 4 drawers (3 tiny drawers on top and 1 large one at the bottom) they should design it to have just 2 (or even 3) larger drawers because currently the top 3 small drawers don't hold very much. It's almost like playhouse drawers. This is the only reason this item did not earn 5 stars from me.

I would have given this 5 stars but that was 'perfect'. Much more durable and a better quality than other 'packaged' furniture such as computer desks. All pieces fit with a couple of adjustments. I would put the front doors on before the top. I'm a 51 yo female and had no trouble managing this without help. Carrying the box....you'll need a dolly..

Love to use the extra counter-top space. Plenty of storage; well built.
Pros:
1) Solid wood pieces are strong and well made.
2) Assembles relatively quickly (2.5 hours)
3) Nice appearance.
Cons:
1) Pre-drilled holes don't exactly align with each other, making assembly more difficult. The support for the breakfast bar drags on the floor when moving.
2) Wooden dowels do not fit snugly into holes. Some pieces seem loose. After I built mine, I thought about disassembling it and gluing the dowels in their holes.
3) Many small pieces make assembly more time consuming.
Overall:
Very worthwhile if you can get a great deal. Otherwise, it's a decent piece of furniture and is very handy in the kitchen.

I use it in my very small kitchen that only has 1 counter top and 2 drawers, so I ran out of cooking room quickly. This lets me store all kinds of things and have it right where I need it.

I bought this for a work table for matting prints, but I'd be happy to have it anywhere in my house. Ordered Thursday night, arrived following Wednesday afternoon. Packing outstanding (heavy cardboard box lined with 1 inch styrofoam, each piece further wrapped in thin foam sheet). Materials excellent--all but drawer bottoms hardwood, not veneered particle board. Parts clearly labeled, instructions very good. Construction time 3 hours (I'm a vet of quite a few such projects--the construction is elegantly simple but strong, key hardware pre-installed, no pieces missing, a few extras of key screws.) Only down side is the support for the leaf drags a little on thick carpet--but no one said it was designed for use on such a surface. It looks great. I'm delighted.

Food prep, pot and pan storage, small item storage. Everything is nearby for easy access, rubber wheels are quiet for easy mobility. Only thing I did not like was the drawer slides (screws were not installed properly).

Island came in a very heavy large box (so have a friend handy if you need to move it). Everything inside the box was well padded and I had no damaged part. Assembly was very easy. All of the parts and hardware were clearly labeled and the instructions actually helped (not just make me mad).

I had read all the bad reviews about cymax on the other sites so I was a bit apprehensive about ordering. [...] But everything was there, it was super easy to assemble. All of the products are labeled, instructions are easy to follow and best of all it is designed so you cannot put things together backwards.Product is great. I am super happy and would recommend that anyone order from these folks.
