The storage shevles behind the doors are grooved for the storage of wine bottles. We had to turn the shelves upside down in order to use it for our storage purposes. Sent Cymax an email advising them to revise their internet advertisement of this product because buyers should realize that this buffet is geared toward wine storage. We use this product for storage, and it looks great too! Took an hour to assemble but, it was well worth it.

We bought this as an addition to our Mission Style dining room. We already have a buffet and hutch, but wanted another buffet for extra storage and serving space during family occasions. This is a lovely, solid-wood buffet. We chose not to include the wineglass rack when assembling, and now have additional external storage space. The only con I can really complain about is that the shelves can do double-duty as wineracks. I don't like the winerack feature attached to the bottom of the upside-down shelves--they take away from the cupboard storage space. However, I would still buy this again.
