This past summer I built a new "arts and crafts" style kitchen in our home. I installed wrought iron hardware and similar design elements in the light fixtures, these stools are made for the arts and crafts design! They would work great in contemporary also, but couldn't be in a chrome and formica environment. We use them at the Island which is exactly 36 inches high, they are perfect for that location. The color of the frame is exactly as pictured. It is the same as the barrel of a gun, not grey at all; it is black, perfect for coordinating with the wrought iron cabinet hardware that is so much in style now. The seats are comfortable as any I have used, the swivel is stiff enough to be stable yet easy to turn when one is seated. Each stool is fitted with floor protectors. All in all it is a great value and we are extremely pleased with the purchase!

These fit perfectly and were of high quality. We went through many types and were always disappointed. They allow you to get on and off easily without banging into the counter and are very comfortable and classic looking. We have cherry wood cabinets and they accentuate perfectly. Great price.
