Be careful on assembly. You need to unscrew the stool itself to get the plastic protective cover off. It would have been helpful if the instructions told you. But our real problem was when we turned the first stool over to get the plastic off, some of the finish came off from the back of the stool, although we weren't being rough with it. We fixed it with matching acrylic paint, but were bummed out at first.

This bar stool is beautiful and extremely comfortable. It's so nice to be able to sit in comfort at the bar in the kitchen and easily turn to watch the TV in the family room. No aching back for anyone at the end of a long party. This bar stool is so supportive and stylish looking - perfect for everyday family use as well as crowded parties!

My home has Stain.Steel finished throughout w/the exception of the foyer & dining room which has a combo finish of stainless/bronze mix. This stool is a PERFECT match for the finishes in those rooms. Not Stainless & not the heavy bronze! Swivels seamlessly. The back is high enough to stick over the counter & show the beautiful dark wood top, but the metal backing makes it not so heavy as to dominate the bar area. Glad I made this choice - had seen this same stool for $249 in a bargain shop.
