    I converted my Gel fuel fireplace with this unit and it worked out great, I used the top and sides from my old unit and built a hearth. (not for the unskilled) I bring my temperture up to 69 then turn on my fireplace and it brings the temperture up to 73 and maintains it so my main heat never comes back on, this works if the outside temperture is at 32 or higher the room size is 600 sq. ft. My wife just love this unit it look so real,Except the half moon in the background it should be broken up more. but for the money it's perfect.

        I put this in a piece that I bought!It had a winerack in it and I brainstormed and the very best deal I found was this Dimplex Electraflame!!! I love it and everyone that has come over to see my house that I am redoing (had a fire in July) They all love what I did with the fireplace!!And the wine rack makes a good magazine rack....

              Used in a small oceanside second home. Very pleased with appearance of the flame and hot coals but find excessive plain mirror exposure somewhat distracting as well as oval shape of the matte portion of the mirrored background...why not straight across down to the logs with less mirror?

              We use it as supplimental heat, easy remote control start and stop. It heats evenly but the blower fan is weak and my wife did not like the half moon effect. I spray painted the half moon with semi-gloss black auto primer paint but left the clear glass to show flames. My wife likes it much better and I enjoy the easy remote control just to cut the chill on cool mornings.

              Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

                the fireplace lining had been rusted out when we bought this home 9 years ago. Now we can enjoy the feel of having a fireplace, without the mess that goes along with one. My only complaint is that the fan should be a bit more forceful to circulate the heat into the living area. It is a pleasant addition to our den.
