Allora Furniture Fairfield 64" TV Stand in Cherry

A relatively nice, inexpensive, but well designed stand for larger flat panel TVs. It is shipped un-assembled in a rather heavy
, long and narrow box. The stand is made by the Hillsdale furniture company and is labeled a folding (!?!) entertainment stand. This refers to the fact that the 4 sides of the stand are hinged together and shipped folded flat. You then Un-fold them to start assembly, which is very straightforward (alan bolts and dowel pegs do most of the securing). Once put together the stand is very solid and remains somewhat heavy. Indeed I found it expedient to move it to its final spot and THEN attach the top. The only indication of the folding design when you are finished is that each side has a seam, which you can see in the pictures provided.
The fit and finish are good and it does end up looking pretty much like it does in the pictures on the website. Goes very well with mahogany furniture - less well with strongly grained wood like oak. Minor complaints include the holes for the dowels used in assembly were a little larger than you might want and the trim on the front of the top is not as tight to the top panel as it could be. Strong points include very well thought out design (all the bays can actually fit AV components which are routinely 17' wide - I can't tell you how many stands I rejected because either the cabinets or bays would be too small) and a good overall appearance (despite the heavy use of particle board with veneer - which is pretty much unavoidable at this price point).
So in short a very good value!

I've attached a photo to show how this looks in the final position. [...] the TV stand is HEAVY. It came fully assembled!!! M
y husband and I moved it upstairs and my back was killing me the next day. So you can't move it yourself and you better have two strong men if you need to go up or down stairs.Third, the product is made of engineered wood which is why it's heavy. But the overlay veneer looks really good but you still need to be a little careful b/c it can scuff and scratch pretty easily. However, it isn't that cheapo paper veneer that marks if you just touch it. We don't have a TV sitting on this b/c the TV is mounted on the wall. But our bluray and cable box are in the two open shelves and the drawers give great storage for DVD's and such.Fourth, the piece looks very very nice. The color is brown/black espresso with woodgrain showing which is almost a perfect match to our other furniture. Overall, this is a great product for the money. I just hope you don't have to go through the process of remedying any manufacturing damage. [...]
