      I use this unit to store bulky media equipment (camera bags, tripods, cables, etc.) in the lower drawer, while using the upper drawer to organize my files. The space I had required a unit that could open and close the drawers fully within a confined area, so it had to be a lateral layout. This model was the least expensive lateral unit finished in black (well, almost - it is "charcoal" grey). Assembly was not difficult, and I was able to complete the installation all by myself - though having an extra set of hands is helpful at certain steps. You will want to pre-drill the panels for the slider rail assemblies instead of hand-screwing them down because there are no pilot holes for this from the factory. Other than that, the directions are clear and simple. Overall time to complete assembly was 3 hours, again that with just one person. (They recommend two people to assemble.)

            It looked like a good value for the money, compared to what else was out there. When it arrived, it was much heavier than I thought and was very difficult to assemble. Many of the corners were cracked or dented, because it was so heavy, the delivery people must have bounced it around. The company uses cardboard for the back and very thin material for the draw bottoms that crack in days. However, once it is together, it is fairly sturdy. The predrilled holes do not allow for all the corners to be perfectly square, but it gets the job done.
