The key to your satisfaction are your expectations... With that said, after assembly the unit looks nice. I am using it to store DVD's and some miscellaneous items. Thus the unit has a decent finish for a [$] piece of furniture that is not solid wood. If someone was to look at it in your home, it looks very nice. But if you look at the finish, the edges are sharp as in standard laminate furniture. Also the backing is essentially thick paper - cardboard. Again from a distance, it looks fine. [...] assembly - was ok in general if you had done any assembly of this type of furniture before. The biggest issue is the cardboard backing. It is about 5mm or 1/4 inch short from a width perspective. What this means is that you will not be able to drive the little nails straight down. You will need to drive them at a perfect angle. There were about 4 spots were the nail was driven into the particle board and cracked through the laminate exposing the beautiful particle board. I had to remove the nail and glue the particle board and laminate splinters back on and use a black Sharpie to stain any remaining particle board exposure. All in all it was easy to repair and it looked ok in the end. This is all part of buying sub $200 furniture. You will need to expect to miss a few of these. There are about 54 nails and I added 4-5 extras. All in all, the product looks nice and serves the purpose and it was the perfect size that I was looking for. Thus I am happy with the purchase since I didn't have high expectations from a piece of laminated particle board furniture. Ameriwood did a decent job except for the cardboard backing. It needs to be a few mils wider. But again, it does look nice. However, don't expect to pick this unit up loaded or expect it to take a big hit by your family dog or kids. If you want to make it much more sturdy, simply go to your local hardware store and buy a couple trim pieces of wood and use as cross members on top of the cardboard backing. A thin wood frame and crossmember will make this baby solid enough.

Looks good when assembled. However a lot left to to be desired with the material itself - the different boards that came in the packaging to be assembled - some of the shelves were chipped, hairline cracks on the board that goes right on top etc...To be fair, I have not had the time to call and talk to Cymax about resolving this since I was travelling and had a limited time to assemble this. However, what do you do when you have started assembling and find that one of the key components is flaky? Wait with a half-assembled bookcase till the replacement arrives?For the money paid,[...]
