The Hammary Mercantile Pier Base is constructed of poplar solids and cherry veneers in a whiskey finish. It features two practical storage drawers and an open compartment for audio/video components.
Hammary had a humble start in furniture manufacturing. In October 1943 after eight years working with furniture manufacturers, Hamilton Louden Bruce decided to go out on his own. Bruce began making canvas covered lawn chairs. Leasing a small building for $15 a month, he began production at 24 chairs a day. The company took its name from combining the names of Hamilton and his wife Mary to create the name Hammary.
A few years later in 1947, Bruce began to work with occasional tables instead of lawn chairs. Bruce toured the East Coast and managed to gather $200,00 worth of orders based only on some sketches. The line was successful and in 1948 they expanded into exotic woods like mahogany and gum with luxurious details like leather tops.
Today Hammary still offers a full range of Occasional Tables as well as Chairs, Home Office Furniture and Home Entertainment Furniture. They also offer unique accent furniture through their Hidden Treasures line. They offer multiple design styles with options from traditional to contemporary.
They have now expanded beyond wood furniture and now include furnishings fabricated from metals like wrought iron or cast aluminum. Hammary is now a part of La-Z-Boy Incorporated along with other trusted brands like Lea Furniture and American Drew.
