Bedroom storage can be tricky for some buyers, with so many different types of bedroom chests out there, and so many different needs as far as space is concerned, it is important to think about the color, shape, function, and quality of furniture that suits your needs. Chest of Drawers
Chests of drawers come in with different amounts of drawers depending on your specific storage needs and space constraints. The smaller sizes, 3 drawer chests, and 4 drawer chests, are the most popular; however we also carry chests of drawers in larger sizes like 6 drawer and even 11 drawer chests. In most cases, the more drawers you need, the more you are going to be paying for your furniture, but also consider that many of the larger items are built with higher quality materials, and in some cases they are delivered assembled. Typically flat pack furniture ships quicker and the quality of the items in many cases is fantastic, pre-assembled chest of drawers require more care in shipping and can take longer to arrive. Mirrored Chests
Like regular mirrors, a mirrored chest can make your room look larger, the reason for this is twofold; they reflect more light making your room brighter, and they also give the slight illusion that there is more on the other side. Mirrored chests also are desired for their vanity and style.
Lingerie Chests
Lingerie chests are typically taller chests with a single column of drawers, although in some cases one of the levels might have several side by side drawers. In most cases the width of a lingerie chest is about 2 feet wide. The sizes of Lingerie chests range from 4 to 7 drawer chests.
Blanket Chests
The third most popular kind of bedroom chest is the blanket chest, also called a hope chest or cedar chest. In some cases this kind of furniture is more of a bedroom bench, and in other cases they can be quite elaborate, with wainscoting and decorative elements. Traditionally hope or cedar chests were used by unmarried young women to collect sheets, linen, and other house hold textiles, as well as dresses and other items that were said to be needed in married life. Hope chests are similar to bridal chests, and carry similar items but the latter is given to a bride as a wedding gift.
A note about Color
Although the color of bedroom furniture can vary piece to piece, it is wise to order bedroom sets from one manufacturer, as opposed to mix and matching. The colors from one manufacturer to the next are probably slightly different, it can be hard to match colors on a computer screen.
